So.

2014 Fiat Ducato.

Last year our satnav started playing up powered by the left hand ‘cigarette lighter’ socket. Not charging.

The RHS socket had previously blown and I had given up trying to find the fuse (found it in the cab battery and changed).

So today I have had the multimeter out in an effort to fault find the issue.

The LHS socket is running at 11.1V with the ignition off and only 12.8V with the ignition on.

The RHS socket (direct wired to the cab battery) is 12.9V with the ignition off and 14.4V with it on. And so will power the satnav happily now that I have changed the fuse.

So hive mind….. what is causing the LHS to be down at that voltage? I have checked the contacts and checked the voltage on the back of the socket…

Any bright ideas.

On my 2007 Ducato, one (I think LHS) has always been lower. Have a look in handbook.
By the way, BOTH of my sockets only work with ignition ON or engine running, where did you find fuse? Is it beside steering or under bonnet? 🤔

All sorted thanks. I replaced the fuse in the engine compartment and all working now. So the fuse must have been causing a voltage drop!

The RHS fuse is located in the cab battery compartment. The LHS socket is in the engine fuse box.

Possibly a corroded / dirty connection on the fusebox and replacing it "cleaned".
