Hit there, is it ok to leave the 12v switch on all the time in my Burstner Aviano. The reason for this is that I want to power a usb security camera to cover my drive area following a strange incident that happened to my wife. As she arrived home in her car a moped and a car pulled up behind her. The moped rider came over and said that there was smoke and flames coming from the car and apparently he was quite aggressive. My wife called me and both car and moped drove off. There was nothing wrong with the car but my wife was really upset. I’ve fitted a video door bell but it doesn’t cover all of the drive. I’ve set up the camera in the moho via home Wi-Fi powered fro a usb socket. However the 12v needs to be switched on to power the usb. I have solar to keep batteries topped up which works well with the 12v switched off but will it cope with12v switched on. I could of course leave it hooked up but would prefer not to.

hi i have little neos cameras there brilliant and cheap put them anywhere ,,and i think you can stick batteries in them but not 100 % on that ,,i dont like leaving the 12v on all the time ,,but each to there own ..

I've found that if I leave it on I have to pull the power leads out of the TV and Tuner, and turn the USB with the alleged voltmeter screen off else between them, their led lights eventually drain the battery, especially in winter. You camera will add to that so whilst leaving the 12v on is OK, you might want to hook up for trickle charge rather than risk the camera not working when you need it to, unless you're 101% sure the solar will cope.

I always wire switches inline with everything including the USB sockets, so it's only the distribution system that is on.
