My Thetford compressor fridge/freezer is being repaired under warranty. I’ve been advised that the parts required will not be available until the end of January.
I would like to still use my camper over Xmas period.
Can anybody recommend a large reasonably priced 12v cooler box, I’m not too worried about it also being a freezer.
Thanks

We had our fridge go wrong on our latest trip, so bought one of these just to tide us over, and it worked very well for us.

I have a dometic compressor cold box in the van garage for beer as swmbo jibs at me filling 'her' food fridge with beer. If required it will work as an overflow freezer with the thermostat turned up.

If it's just a coolbox with a fan on it that you're after, I've got a (I think Camping Gaz) one that's been sat in the garage since I discovered compressor fridges a few years back.

I'll dig it out later and take some measurements and pics if it's of interest unclestinky? It's not had much use and it's not going to get any more use from me any time soon.

As long as you have some decent icepacks and/or put some frozen food in it then it works really well. Obviously it won't do what a compressor fridge will and if you're looking at going away for a week then you might need to plan to buy frozen veg or similar periodically to keep the temp down in it, but as an inexpensive temporary measure it could work well.

Women just don't understand what fridges are for. 🤣

We bought a Hi Gear cooler, which seems to work ok (need to reduce the fan speed at night so it’s not too noisy……..)

Any as long as they are compressor boxes, bit more money but they are proper little fridges 👌
This. Compressor fridges are efficient and effective. Do not be tempted to get a cheaper thermo-electric Peltier cooler fridge. Peltier based devices use several times the amps and are often limited to only 10-15C lower than ambient temperature. Waste of money.
