Here you go, 12 month Italian visa, say goodbye to 90/180 rule😎

For genuine remote tech workers, declaring €75, 000 in earned income. Seems reasonable.
Doesn't say if you then pay income tax on that in Italy...
- I doubt there will be many Funsters who meet that.

There is quite a bit of work going on with the FB group France 180 days visa free group. Many writing to their MPs and gaining responses and possibly some traction.

The French 180 day visa seems to be the way to go currently but its complex, costly, extremely time consuming and I was put off this year trying it for the first time as there seemed to be a lot of rejections and of course you still have to pay even if you are declined.

Its ridiculous that we give Europe six months yet we are restricted to just three. It makes my blood boil that we could have actually had a reciprocal six month agreement but the morons in charge here didn't want to know as it smacked too much of the dreaded "Free movement". I thought a renegotiation of the Brexit terms was on the cards this year so perhaps (don't hold your breath) it will now be addressed. I'm pretty sure the EU would not object, how could they? Its the UK that seems (or seemed) to have the problem.

Yes,that was the status before as it suited the Uk having no need to'register' anyone.

Yes, they couldn't be bothered

The status before was we could move around Europe as long as we wanted and I don't think the reciprocal agreement we could have had and decided not to have was not because they couldn't be bothered I think it was political. The word "free movement" became a dirty word (Well two words) thanks to the usual suspects and the gutter press. Absolutely bonkers.

The issue is that 99.99% of the population don’t need more than 90/180 so they (politicians and public overall) don’t give a Scooby about our minority use case!

Its affected a lot of second home owners as well, people working abroad etc but the same probably applies.

Second home owners..I feel for them, unlike motorhomers, they can take their holidays elsewhere..

It's worse for people with yachts. Takes most of their 90 days to get turn to the Med, then have to dock then somewhere until they can come back to make the return journey.

I, like many people who are Residents of an EU country, am also restricted to 90/180 days in other EU countries, unlike Citizens who have Free Movement.

Out of devilment, I would like to apply to the French, or Italian, Consulate in Warsaw for a 6-month visa. It would be interesting to get their reaction to an EU Resident applying. Would they say 'Why? There are no border checks', or would they have to play a straight bat along the line of the ridiculous rules?

In practice, I think the hassle of my such visa application would for me be worse than the chance of being caught over-staying, with the chance of being repatriated - to where? Poland or UK?

It has not been definitively established what the rules are about anyone holding a French 6-month visa visiting other EU countries, and whether one can exercise 90/180 rights in addition to the visa 6-months.
