Apology accepted. Of course the argument based on them being a separate race shouldn't work, because it is based on a legal fiction, not logic.

Meanwhile, a cursory interwebby search shows the extent to which Travellers and their supporters believe the Police are racist towards them. There may be justification for this accusation in a small number of complaints by Travellers, although 97% of all complaints of racism against Police result in no action. Nevertheless why would serving coppers want to run the risk of being investigated, racism being such a sensitive area, especially if they are single-crewed with no colleague to back them up in a he said, she said, scenario when confronting non-compliant Travellers.

Anyway that's all I am going to say about that.
