How to remove the whole dashboard in an early Peugeot Boxer/Citroen Relay/Fiat Ducato 1

I have written this guide as I could not find anything similar online, or in the Peter Russek manual. References to dashboard removal in online forums suggest that it is a very complicated job, for which a dealer would charge in the order of £1,000. It is quite complicated but I can see no reason for that level of cost, and it is well within the capability of the average home mechanic, with just a few tools, and provided the approach is patient and methodical.
