Travel Insurance

Can I second Nationwide? You do have to have a Flex Plus account, but if you do then for £18 pm we get AA breakdown, at home and full recovery, inc Europe, for 21 year old MH and car + travel insurance (and we are both over 75). If you have pre-existing medical conditions you may need to pay a supplement for the travel insurance so cannot comment on what that might cost extra.

We had been with Staysure for the last 4 yrs..both mid 60's and wife has one or two declared medical issues .. last month the renewal came through and for some reason it had jumped up over 35%..
We had stuck with them because they offer trips of over 90 days for a bit extra on the premium..
On recommendation I tried a quote from Virgin.... their Gold Account with multiple trips of over 95 days for us came in almost half the price of Staysure... and that was with a bit added to cover laptops and phones too.

Here you will find a list of insurers which cover medical conditions. I found it very helpful

Try Total Travel Protection. Far better price wise than Aviva (Nationwide) and no age restrictions. We got 94 days for just over £480 and £178 for 38 days in summer. I did try Aviva and they wanted £181 simply for a couple of minor medical issues, never mind what they wanted for 38 days.

Yes, but Nationwide includes UK/EU breakdown for ALL your vehicles who ever drives them - and with no age limits on the vehicles. (That's rare and useful for someone with a 21 year old and 15 year old car) Take the cost of all that off and Nationwide becomes very competitive on the travel insurance side.

To be honest, I find Red Pennant travel insurance CAMC is best. They don't delve too deep. I have cystic fibrosis and some companies won't insure me. They are only interested in mainly heart conditions, sleep apnea , etc and you don't have long questionnaires. If you have had recent surgery they might ask you about that. Includes European breakdown assistance as well

We're with Nationwide, £18.00 per month fees, £60.00 age supplement per annum, but be careful as they do NOT offer multi trip over 30 days, we can go to Europe for six weeks at a time and they want £178.00 PER trip.

No age supplement now - that was with UK Insurance.

Just beware that Nationwide wont cover over 8m abroad - including length of tow bar or bike rack if fitted. So my Autograph at 7.9m, which has both, is excluded. Kept with it for travel insurance (wife has health issues) and added Euro cover to Caravan Guard insurance 😬

Just looked online at NFOP . It states you need to be under 80 if you haven't taken out their ins. before. Rules us out!

Yes that's correct, once you have joined you have access to their travel insurance which is part of the civil service insurance society. Please bear in mind you have to be 79 or under to join, as long as you stay with them, there is no upper limit. The premiums stay the same for everyone regardless of age. All the information is available on the Internet.

snip< and Petplan on a fit 4 year old dog is £1200 so maybe ours about right in today’s world.
Check your home insurance policy, at least one family pet (maybe 2, but defiantly 1 is usually covered) is usually covered on the home insurance. I had PetPlan for my dogs years ago (I don't have a dog anymore) but I later found out (years ago) your home insurance, in the fine print, mentions covering the family pet, have a look and see.

Just priced up 80 day cover in Europe, with some medical issues, all under control.

Nationwide (Aviva) want £485, been with Nationwide for over twenty years (it's nearly doubled) and this is taking the pee... filled in their feedback form telling them so.

Got and excepted a quote from https://www.totaltravelprotection.com/ same cover £263.34.

Just to add, Le Shuttle wanted a similar amount to Aviva.

After years with Nationwide, their quote with some controlled medical issues and only one 90 day trip to Europe was £455 for us. Tried 8 others mentioned on here and ended up with SAGA who will cover multiple trips up to 90 days (max 180 days per annum in total days) for £452. Very pleased with SAGA service on the phone as well.
Will feedback to Nationwide.
