Creating a 'Glamp' site

It's not that I don't believe you it's that I'm just nosey ::bigsmile:
Me too. I am part of the NMC, nosy mares club!!

Good luck with it all. A neighbour here is thinking of getting a couple ofshepherd's huts for his land. Some of them don't need planning permission.

I will post photos now and again. I've said I will upload some tomorrow. Don't forget that this is also our home, so yes lots of photos are being taken, but I'm not inclined to endlessly plaster them on the internet... :)

Hello Dawsey and welcome back, although most of us who’ve been following your journey these last few years, knew full well you and Bea weren’t ones to simply admit defeat and give up.

Great to hear you’re both finally found the dream of your lives and wish you all the happiness you deserve as you strive out to turn the dream into reality.

Can’t wait to see the “Before and After” photos.

PS. Does that mean your trusty Helga will once again find herself back in the MH Classifieds.

Good Luck to you both, the really hard work now begins.

Good luck in your venture.
I believe planning permission not required for 5 unit CL or for rallies on up to so many days a year. If you contact our leader Jim, he would be able to inform you. You then maybe able to get something up and running under the umbrella of MHF just to get the ball rolling. You don’t have to provide anything other than water and waste facilities.

Ofgem are both the regulator and the administrator for the government boiler replacement scheme. It is handy for us as the DNO (what you call the local electrical distributor) have to approve the transformer and connection/export uprate and they are buggers for charging, but are very scared of the all powerful regulator so I can use Ofgem as a tool to negotiate the price of the connection upgrade down.
Distribution network operator has obligations that can't wiggle out of it. But, in some cases they will charge for upgrades, and there is no way round it. If you can get two phases is better than one. But 3 phase is better, and you should enquire if you could have that instead as it will mitigate phase balancing and being a commercial site 3 phase is ideal.
I know farms with two phases and voltage stays above 245v most of the time. That, in terms of solar connection may push it even further up. Having 3 phase it will spread the power even on all 3.
Try and speak to DNO about this.

I’m delighted you finally found a place to lay your head and get going on your ambition of a campsite, in whatever flavour you decide where you have stopped.

I’m also pleased to see that your treasured Helga kept you going for yet another two years of travelling and updates.

I’ve been watching you since the very beginning, and was delighted to see you post a week or so back that you had actually finally found a place. Not where I expected, and no doubt not what you really expected, it was a shame about that beautiful Manor House as it did look spectacular. But once again neighbours were the problem, or potential problem in the long run. You did well to extricate yourself but no doubt the sellers were very upset. As you would have been in their shoes.

Like everyone else, I look forward to any photographs you find time to share.

But wish you the very best going forward, but don’t forget to enlist the Help of folk on the forum who are willing to offer it.

Carol

When i wanted to unloop our power from our neighbour, much to my surprise the leccy company had to do it for free.
Neighbour wasn't too happy as it was his garden that got dug up.

What you need is someone who enjoys taking photos .

Wonder where you could find one of those 🤔🤣

Well Northernraider is looking forward work, on his way home and looking for a job, doing anything by sounds of it. Has his own Motorhomes and dogs - so maybe you both need to speak to each other there he’s also fantastic at taking photos, we all say so.

Who knows? It could help each other out.

dawsey is aware .

I messaged him last week and passed on my number so we can have a chat when back in UK.

So pleased I have spotted dawsey your new thread from the start, looks like it's going to be an interesting development you are creating I looking forward to following your progress and photos a busy exciting time ahead.

So have you received “ in principle” approval from the planners?

I hope so, otherwise your only visitors might be cows or sheep and they don’t pay much.

Back in 2007/8 we were one of the first sites in the UK to have proper Camping Pods, just as Glamping entered the lexicon. A brilliant decision, we recouped our investment in 4 Pods and all the enabling works in a season. dawsey if you ever need an ear for anything give us a shout.

Did a bit today, so here's some photos for all those asking

Pumps pumps and pumps. All are knackered, leaky. New stuff on order. Amazon is fantastic.

I've removed the flue and another temp roof repair so the pool plant room can dry up and I can assess it

IMG_5498.webp

The pool room itself is a bit mouldy and wet, as are the changing rooms, Anorher temp roof repair to help it start to dry up. Everything leaks...

I welcome the 'health and safety' comments on my ladder position.... :)

There's a bit of mould in the spa and there's a lot of refurb needed

Burnt out pool light. Awful old things, 300W halogen in sealed beam. Someone must have turned it on with no water in the pool. It wouldn't last long not submerged in water. A funky remote control colour changing thing is on order...

Of the 7 bathrooms in the house and complex, not one is functional. A bit of a 'scorched earth' thing. WCs mostly work though, so it ain't all bad :)

Oil boiler and tank all in bits, moved, missing and this weird old non condensing NG boiler cobbled to a LPG tank which someone has half inched.
IMG_5514.webp

Looks like the same scumbags have been on the roof too...

Bit of a mess at the back of the hangar...

I got my new roof drain underway today

Removing the old spa signage
IMG_5491.webp

At leas the previous owners floor is giving us something to burn to put some heat in the house to help it dry while we've no heating....
IMG_5524.webp

The hangar (so called to distinguish it from the 'nice' garage is a bit battered and also is leaky/wet...
IMG_5523.webp

IMG_5495.webp

But there's nothing too much of an issue. The good news is today I got the 'nice' garages cleaned up and looking nice, ready to take a couple of cars... Priorities...

Tomorrow will be 'the test' :)

Ha, taking photos isn't the issue, we have SLR with all the lenses etc. What we need is someone with a ruddy great digger. I'm sure it was mentioned in the previous thread...
