How do you find sites (UK based) that are open year-round? We're not members of any clubs, do we need to be? We've only got a basic solar/gas bottle set-up, so can't be off-grid for long.

My OH is all ready to put our MH in storage for 4-5 months and I'm resisting it, as I want to use it through winter too.

Any suggestions welcome, we're in the West Mids, so will travel.

The main clubs are what we use, perhaps not the cheapest but in winter they are not exorbitant. They don't have a lot of sites open all year but on those that are pitches will be hard standing with EHU and the showers should be a generous size especially on CMC sites in heated toilet blocks. You can of course use your own facilities of course.

I use car parks and CAMPRA sites a lot in winter. Sites can be a problem as unless they have hard standing, it’s a no go.

Scotlands stay the night forestry scheme is brilliant!

As said above search for sites you can select an option for open all year..
Facebook has a few groups dedicated to pub stopovers.

We dont do much in the way of campsites, actually almost never in the UK.
You should be ok for at least 1 or 2 nights away without facilities.
We are up in Cannock and in winter we often head for some town stopovers on car parks that allow overnight.
Good as it's on hardstanding and we have the local pubs and eating places close by, then fall into bed :beerchug:

Shrewsbury, Worcester, Chester, Hereford are just a few. Council car parks in Powys allow it as well : Welshpool, Macynlyth, ross on wye, brecon and others.. All easy reach from the West Mids. (y)

Morris has a good offer on their sites, Shrewsbury, Betws-y-Coed, Ludlow, Bridgnorth, Llanberis and Poston Mill Herefordshire.
3 nights for the price of two and an extra discount if you are members of the big two club sites.
Very well equipped sites, nice showers and facilities.
We are at Llanberis at the moment and it cost £77.80 for three nights, Hardstanding and electric, much cheaper than their normal price.

You don't need to be a member of Caravan and Motorhome Club or Caravan and Camping club to get Morris three for two nights offer worth £38.90!

There are a lot of sites out there that stay open all year you just have to search for them, UK Campsites, online are useful.
And the Camping & Caravan Club clubsites are reasonably priced.
There is no reason to pack up using the van throughout the winter!

We belong to both caravan clubs. I “slagged off” motorhome club sites, the prices, along with loads of others. Then, having spent time in France, this year, with disgusting toilets/showers on the campsites have changed my mind. Yes, some campsites, with Asci card, only around €18 to €25 but, unless some people’s idea of clean is very different to mine, I would not enter such establishments let alone sit on mon derrière😲. Our favourite site is Ferry Meadows an Peterborough and I will now happily pay them £30 ish a night for a pristine pitch and shower/toilet block in an amazing location.
They were going to close end of November for winter as struggling to finance site but, luckily,
going to stay open until at least January. Lots of walking, cycling and pubs within a short distance.
