With immense thanks to WESTY66 for pointing out these passes in what can only be described as stunning scenery.
Unfortunately the really good photos on a decent camera are far too big to upload on here and FB wouldn't take 13 of them !
It was about 35 KMs for us to the bottom of the Wurzen pass. I had read of those that went before us. Barti Ddu and bobnick have written about their exploits.
Our vehicle of choice today was the 110 cc 8 years old recently serviced Suzuki address. A vehicle more apt to tackle this pass would be hard to find.
The bottom of the pass has a sign "18% for 3.5 km.
The road would have been bumpy if you were going over 17 mph but we never noticed it. It's pretty straight but if there is a curve in the road you have time to judge the correct line to take through the corner. No great photo opportunities on this road.
The first photo only shows 500 m. That was the other end !
As we dropped down the other side having passed the border guardhouse who took no interest there was quite a picnic spot view
Then we went to Kranjska but paying for parking when on a motorbike is not in my vocabulary. The town looked like it was a place to have coffee but not one motorbike was parked up. We went through the town twice looking for availability to no avail. We were a bit gutted as this was part of the agenda suggested by Westy.
So we carried on and about 500 m past the town is this lake with a sign "Free motorbike parking" a cappuccino and mint tea later (6.30) we walk off round this stunner.
It was about this point we noticed all the reactions of all the 1200 cc BMW riders which was between laughter, shock, amazement and Bravo.
To the vrsic pass. 18 hairpins all of them cobbled which wasn't great on small wheels but at least it was dry. Shed loads of scenery but they were the remit of the pillion with the decent camera a la tour de France!
Up the top I deliberately parked amongst the big bikes which gave them a good chuckle.
Then went a little further for even more views and sheep taking up most of the road and added to the the Suzuki badge of honour list
Back down from whence we came and a cafe was spotted so apple strudel x2 and 2 cokes set us back 17 euros. I think the altitude affected my thinking
Then on the way down we stopped for the Russian chapel.
All in all a stunning day out. There were motorhomes at the top. You need to ask yourself the question of "should we" and if you answer yes and your motor is more powerful than 110 cc with a pillion on it you will be well rewarded.
