We did the Rhine Falls and 3-4 KMs up river is this town.
Had never even heard of it before but we popped in and found a dedicated motorbike park next to the museum with a free family day and picturesque restaurant.
Wondered the pretty streets and then saw a map.
Lo and behold they had a swimming pool in the fast flowing Rhine above the falls ! Surely elf and safety ought to have a word. So we went and had a look and yes they have a swimming pool in the Rhine with grabs and ropes (and some bars) to prevent you going down the falls and it is only 4 euros. Different heights in the different pools and you presumably swim or try to against the flow. Loads of eateries and lazing areas.
As we came out we spotted what we thought might be a clock tower but old. Up some steep steps with vineyard either side and we find a way h tower. Free to enter so we go up the circular even floor and it opens up into a communal area where they concerts etc with views of the city roofs. Back down we go and there is a catacomb type place then outside an old most with bambi grazing then we found some binoculars which we gazed through and the view of the street was transformed back to when it was a river.
Really unexpected lovely walk
