Le Plan de la Tour

Firstly, that is the name of the town.
It is about 10 km from Port Grimaud and 10km from Ste Maxime at a height of 77m. In order to cycle to Port Grimaud you have to go up to 189 m but it's straight down to Ste Maxime then basically flat to St Tropez.

If coming here from the North in a motorhome, you may notice the "Touristique Route" which our sat nav declined to take us on. It's the D44 through Vallaury. I need to check but suspect it may be one of the roads that is in "Dangerous Roads" website. Luckily we only met 3 vehicles and we suspect it is a good road in a clear day, which it wasn't today. There has to be a better route in to here !

The aire is not an aire but free mixed parking, not to everyone's taste. But there is a westfalia, a home made PVC and a t line roller team here with us and the occasional abandoned vehicle and parked cars of all the people in the village.

As we drove in off my selected road (Paula was not party to that last minute choice) the prettiness of the village became apparent. We had to wait a couple of hours before the rain finally relented to view the town/village. We noticed bar prices and this place is affluent. Juliper at 3.50 for 25cl was the cheapest we saw but we have a PMU to check out.

What got us was the amount of foliage about that is obviously really mature along with thick olive trees in planters interspersed with abstract art and pot plants and plant roofs for shade. Walking the cobbled streets was an eye pleasure. We suspect this may be the sort of place the rich and famous from st Tropez might come out to for a quiet meal. It has vines and olive trees aplenty around the area with its own Coop wine production of rose as syrah and Grenache are the 2 main grapes here.

The eateries looked very nice and we caught a glimpse inside la plan de la tour restaurant (it was la) and the terrace looked classic. The view as you went round was blocked though.

Can't wait to go round at night looking at how they have set up lights.

Hoping to cycle to Ste Maxime and St Tropez from here and places in between.

We really like this place already.

And what appears to me to be a burnt olive tree which instead of discarding they used it instead of a boulder at the back of our van.
