Left Teruel and went to venta del Aire in the hope to be able to cycle from there but upon arrival we formed the judgement that leaving our van alone for the day wasn't the best plan.
We swapped the contents of our cassette for fresh water for free though.
We moved on to Geldo, arriving to the sight of a chain gang clearing up the road. The Aire looks like it will take 20 and 8 were taken upon arrival. The Aire appears to be being done up at the moment and fee water and dump here at present.
As we left for our anticipated 15 km cycle (actually 19) the ends of houses were noted for paintings. When we returned there was a coach which was obviously carrying people very interested in the art on show as they got their guided tours.
The via Verde is about a KMs out from the Aire and a slight gradient rather than the full blown category 1 climb of yesterday.
We headed north today to Jerica which was uphill. About 200 m in the 14/18 km cycle.
Although it felt uphill it never really looked it until on our return journey it did look downhill and ride like it.
Surface was broken in places but there was always a nice line to follow. We saw nobody on the way up so cycling side by side and 3 couples on return journey.
We always had the valley on our right going up with some form of tunnels/caves appearing, viaducts, bridges, long cuttings, picnic spots, orange trees, nurseries, tunnels. It was a full house of vistas in this short cycle.
It is possible to view some of the via Verde to your right if going down the dual carriageway.
Today was our best day for solar as well even though cloudy at times 800 watts received.
Can you tell that I m blagging away here waiting for the internet to fire up in Geldo ? It's quite slow on the Aire.
Then we got to the picnic site at Jerica. They are just doing it up and looks to be a good un. Lovely view of the hill top town
This is where I use the search function of mhf and found that the Jumars at number 42 have praised this gorgeous little town. Noted was the river walk and rock climbing but neither on our agenda today but the town was every bit and more if what they described and worthy of reading up on their threads in Spain (and other places) for excellent recommendations.
The town is walled from a fortress point of view with limited entry points that somehow cars can get in.
Possibly the narrowest streets we have seen, all cobbled and flowers out in between the 3 storey high on either side housing
We had to stop here for our beer and if you see the white car, sit back and relax as the chain smoking wife adjusts the legs of the oldest person in Spain as he gets into the driver's side. The whole of the bar was watching as if they knew what to expect as he timed his reversing manoeuvre to perfection in front of a tractor and went about his day without a care in the world
