Left Hamilton 10am. Sun shining and heading for Forfar. Stopped at Glendoick so Shirley could leap about like a shorn lamb with her new haircut. Fatmrg had to do a 37 point turn to get out of the car park and we were so freaked out that we left the step behind. Sigh. Arrived at Forfar Lochside CAMC or rather arrived up a tiny street following satnav and had to repeat the Glendoick exit performance much to our chagrin.
Site is lovely. Sun still shining. Ravenously fell on our ham pieces and went exploring.
Forfar is a douce wee ferm town that still has a bustle about it . Butchers, bakers, fishmongers, drapers and ironmongers still exist here.
Lots to see. Great walks round the Loch and round the town. Hedgerows full of birds and the Forsythia is felt pen yellow. Just too early for the Hawthorn, but spring is definitely in full bloom. The Meffan museum with Pictish stones and local history. The Botanists garden. Quirky wee squares and vennels. Restenneth Priory and Glamis Castle will have to wait till next time .
All this and Forfar Bridies ? A great start. Off to the Broch tomorrow to visit my 94 year old mum.
