Left early from Donauworth and straight run of about an hour on a Sunday morning saw us arrive about 0930 at Ingolstadt Aire.
We had read about awkward entry barriers but rolled up took a ticket and barrier raised. No dramas.
The way we came in makes me wonder how big Ingolstadt is. It was about 5 km of urban roads and shed loads of shops.
The Aire is best described as truly uninspiring. Luckily for us there is an overflow with a space and much more preferable than the sardine approach where the electric is. Water 10 cents for 10 litres will get a visit when we leave. 5.50 a day.
We set off on our bike route to Eichstatt and went through the electric aire and just got the camera out. It appears there is a cycling perepherique/orbital/Rocarde round Ingolstadt and we fancy a bit of that tomorrow.
Out into the very flat part we eventually reached open fields then a beautiful wood was passed through in inclines but perfect tarmac and the shade was blissful. Goats and vending machines with honesty boxes for pasta and eggs broke the route up
We saw a band playing but didn't stop long
Then some art
Before the pretty town of Eichstatt which had an aire for 12.50 and extra for water, couldn't see leccy but loads of space.
The streets were all cobbled in the walled town and lovely ambiance
Headed back home over hills to the Danube and managed to find some hills with very long views and some beer gardens
Long old drive to this castle
When in germany..... cycle to a beer garden
