As I'm heading back to the UK from Spain via France I thought I would try at least one new stopover on my normal route. So taday I arrived at the aire at Haza which is right next to the remains of the castle. It's situated with an elevated view of the surrounding countryside which was evident on the access road which is narrow and upward-rising. It has water and emptying and has an almost-level hardstanding surface. The facilities are clean and it's very quiet, being a tiny village. The views are very nice and it's wasn't long before I saw three pairs of Griffen vultures circling nearby. The castle tower is still intact and accessed by scanning the QR code on the information board, entering your details on the website and the time/date you want to your the site. A keypad access code is sent to you by email for the tower entrance door. The aire and tower visit are both free and a nice touch. Overall a nice, peaceful place.
