Not a great day weather wise so we drove and cycled and found this spot which caters for 12 or so motorhomes and has dumps but leccy and water don't want to work.
Easy park up and flat walk into what appeared to be a tired town.
But about 20 minutes after stopping and having dinner the barriers went up on the entrance to town.
Over to investigate and the town had closures on for 2 Fridays and 2 Saturdays on the trot in middle of September. Then we saw a stage by the church so had a chat with a chap who worked out to be the director. My understanding is this goes on annually to coincide with when the museums in France are free.
The town, pre sales of tickets.
There are 5 pop up theatres and the cost to see 5 productions was 5 euros each. That passed the suavecarvewalletometer test. So we set straight off to the market and got our tickets, programme and 2 euro beer. We were assigned the kids in green group to improve or practice their English but not many conversations had.
This years theme was television. It started with a really naff quiz where I got all the answers right and we think that determined where each of the 5 groups started.
The first play was probably a comedy. It was set in the 60s and had a great riot scene with smoke bombs and those exploding fire crackers.
Then we were headed by the aforementioned kids to the back of another church and this one was definitely a comedy and we could follow it. We even managed a chat with one of the stars as they seem to walk along and start the play in the street for this one.
Then we went round the town for no apparent reason and came to the first church where we met the director. So I knew (I could have worked it out) it was Les Miserables in 40 minutes. At least 50 cast with fire displays and smattering of kids, an uprising and good acting with great props. This was brilliant.
Then we moved into the Marie. What a Mairie ! Behind locked gates leading to tree surrounded quadrant all lit up and the Mairie changed into a set of televisions with actors performing something like gogglebox, terribly. It was rubbish unfortunately but great setting
