I am offering for sale my tow bar mounted Altera Strada DL3 cycle carrier.
Full specs and lots of info can be seen HERE at Roofbox Co where I bought it. It is currently selling for £440. It has only been used for 2 holiday tours and unfortunately we are not going to cycle anymore so I no longer have use for it. Sold my bike yesterday & Sharon’s has just been advertised
After buying a new PVC in 2022 I researched which was a good choice for enabling the two rear Ducato doors to be opened fully so I and customs staff etc, could get access without removing the 2 bikes we carried in the outer two fittings. This system allows for the rack to not only tilt but slide to give access, unlike those that only tilt and the weight is much less than one of those big swing out affairs. I didn’t want the bike weight on the actual doors so felt this was the best value for money option.
I have probably driven 5K mikes with them on and have not experienced any problems with the rack or movement.
What I did do was fit a 1” spacer on the tow bar, and selected the bottom hole fastenings, this gave a bit more clearance of the doors when opening.
You can see photos of it fitted on my new van review HERE on the forum.
If the buyer had a Phantom Alarm system I would throw in a wireless bike alarm fob too that I’m sure could be paired to their alarm.
I would like £300 for it, but recognise it must go, so am open for sensible offers. We can discuss collection/delivery. It was delivered to me my carrier so could be sent if I was able to safely package it. I am going down to Portsmouth, via Henley, in March so could perhaps meet up on the way too.
