Zagreb to Split or Rovinj

Currently at Camp Zagreb - very nice ACSI site but can't decide whether to go to split on the motorway then head north or start at Rovinj & head south. We've only got 3 weeks before Italy. Considering getting the ferry across to Venice. Any advice from you seasoned travellers very much welcome

We just drove from Venice. We stayed at camping Fusina a short boat ride into Venice. We then came through Slovenia, stopping at a site in Ankaran close to Koper. We are now at Novigrad.

Don't go past the Plitvice National park without spending a day there... So you'll need to take their route 1 from Karlovac to Split... We found it a very pleasant route.

Are you staying in a campsite at Novigrad. We're on our way down and not sure whether to book in advance or not . . . maybe Serina. How busy is it there?
