Something needs to be done as these vans are now on the market being sold to unsuspecting victims 🤬

We don’t know who installed it but there are a lot more of these van conversions out there.
Totally unregulated but the really sad thing is there are many so called reputable companies that are supplying the incorrect products to the leisure market.
Reputable companies don’t care. They will just keep selling them and taking the money. Then blame it on the people who fitted them.
Are they marketed for vans? I’ve not seen them before

They look similar to those installed in static caravans. They have to be in a sealed cupboard with good external ventilation.

Loads of the van lifers self builds use them. Very common to fit them on the opening rear door with a long flexible gas hose. They use them with the door open as they have no flue fitted.

Yes I have just done a search and found them.
I can just imagine the mind of a van builder doing overtime with how he can adapt one of these.

No flue just adds to the danger.

I thought that it must have a flue or outside vent, but as I couldn't see one I found it listed on-line with Amazon and its so cheap at ÂŁ105.00 you can see why so many use it, all over EU. Having found the appliance, and read the reviews, there is no mention of fitting a flue or having enough ventilation, if you read the review many are using it to warm up hot tubs, but the main advert itself recommends it for "off Grid" camping. Cant believe this thing is not balanced flue or vented, it would set a CO2 detector off surely it close enough, I also don't trust those orange rubber pipes, if stretched over the fittings too much they tend to perish very quickly near the jubilee clips.
See below, yes its made in China of course.

If I was buying the van I would naturally think it's all compliant with regs etc so happily use it.

And that’s the problem, but sadly it’s not just self builders , far too many companies out there selling products that aren’t suitable for use in leisure vehicles,

It will take deaths before any interest is shown, its ridiculous that a company can fit dangerous appliances with little certifications.

It has a conventional open flue doesn’t it? See the 11cm dimension on the Amazon pics and the roof terminal on the van in the OP. Still as dangerous as a flueless application in that installation though.
