We wild camped at scamadale right by the loch,Ďid'nt see anyone for 3 days only sheep for company,fresh water from the brook,beautiful.!!

I've received a reply to the FOI request that I sent to Highland Council (see a couple of posts above).

They have confirmed that any remaining "No Overnight Parking" signs in laybys are unenforceable, that they were always only advisory and that Highland Council never tried to enforce them.

In off street car parks that existed in 1996 (when the current TRO was introduced) any vehicle adapted for sleeping is banned from 8pm to 8am. In addition the requirement to park wholly within a bay precludes motorhome parking where that can not be achieved.

An overnight restriction is being introduced at Dornoch Beach Car park specifically to combat nuisance long term camping by a few people to the detriment of the public at large.
