Changed the water pump timing and aux belts today about 4 hours in all, included tea breaks and while waiting for engine to reach some sort of temp I changed front discs and pads.
How much should I pay myself at back street garage rates?

Yes Renault. Timing belt looked ok, aux belt had cracks, may well have done another few years.

Well I was rich for few fleeting days - insurance renewal! I have a a multi vehicle policy with LV, Motorhome has gone down by £1.01, however the hybrid has gone up £50.99. Breakdown cover for me in any vehicle the same at £113. That's mechanical breakdown not mental!

MoT this morning 7a.m. in deepest South Gloucester. Tester asked when was the belt changed, last week says I.
Passed no advisories.
Certificates are not issued as you check online, however I asked about the smoke test and he said he will print it off, I got the certificate, brake test and smoke test print out. Slight imbalance on front brakes that I put down to the pad/discs still bedding in. Ready to get out and about now.

Changing the discs and pads in just the time it took the engine to warm up is very fast! You probably qualify for a position in the Ferrari put crew!

I’m like you and do all my own servicing and recently changed all 4 discs and pads for the mot. Cam belt done in 2020 so not due another for a few years yet.

Done the same last year but also a front wheel bearing and my 20 ton press wouldn’t touch it,
Luckily I know a guy with a 50 ton one so all sorted,

Looks like we will have to use the Gazebos as a garage this year, no socials or wine tasting events.

Four bolts and a rusty screw each side, already on axle stands. press pistons back a bit and fit new - order a brew from wife. Engine very slow to warm up on tick over.
Have to admit lifting the wheels and getting the bolts in took longer!

The timing belt is easy to access through the wheel arch on the Renault Master, getting the plastic under tray off was a PITA.

Then there is the satisfaction of doing it yourself and know it is done correctly.

Maybe we could have a fix it and maintenance event at Quackers instead of the crafty ones….

I see one issue, if they are that broken and in need of fixing, people many not be able to get there!
