Why SWEDE STOPS?

The purpose of SWEDE STOPS is to contribute to the development of sustainable rural tourism in Sweden. Motorhome tourists are to be attracted from the highways to visit and stay overnight with local businessmen (hosts) in the countryside and experience another Sweden and enjoy its culture and nature (Different stops @ SWEDE STOPS)

How does it work?

The guide is the Swedish version of France Passion® and follows the same principles as other similar guides within the EU: Hosts in the countryside invite motorhome tourists as guests who receive a free and safe parking for 24 hours. Normally no service is offered, however there are some hosts who offer water and electricity, a fee can be charged. Some hosts want you to call in advance.

During the visit you have the opportunity to get acquainted with their activities and can enjoy local food and drink. In farm shops it is possible to buy fresh and tasty food and other products.

The guide contains information about the hosts' activities, products and services. Maps, addresses, directions, GPS coordinates, QR code linked to Google Maps. In addition, information on 353 service locations for Blackwater, Greywater or Water, plus 52 LPG stations

With the purchase of the guide, you get a certificate to be displayed at the inside of the windshield. This shows that the motorhome tourist has access to the network.

Background
Behind SWEDE STOP's economic association are Trygve and Rose-Marie Bringhammar. They travelled in 2014 for two months with a motorhome in GB, Northern Ireland and IRL and used a guide, Brit Stops, who gave access to a network of local businessmen in the countryside who invited motorhome tourists to stay for free with the motorhome for a maximum of 24 h in connection to their business.

They bought from the hosts locally produced food and other goods.

Trygve & Rose-Marie had (2014) travelled with a motorhome for 8 years and visited 20 European countries. Brit Stop's guide contributed to the trip being among the best they had done, much thanks to the fact that they came out in the countryside and in an easy way got in touch with the local people and could enjoy nature and culture in a way that otherwise would not have been possible.

They were convinced that there should be a similar network in Sweden and 2015 the first guide was launched.
