A few years now
We have been looking at the rallies, events & festivals that might be possible in 2017 & noticed that the Sunshine Festival seems to be growing in popularity with motorhomers so wondered if it might be a good option for a Fun meet? We have contacted the organisers to see if they can offer a discounted ticket price (with camping) if there is enough interest from Funsters - will post once known what is possible.
In the meantime please post here if you might be interested, have been before & what it was like & what price you paid? It will be helpful to know of any discount offers in previous years to make sure that we are being offered the best price for tickets :xThumb:

Website link http://www.uptonfestival.co.uk/ - same site as the Upton Blues & Jazz Festivals. Artists so far include - Paul Young, Blue, Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Atomic Kitten, Kim Wilde, Heatwave, Jaki Graham, Sonia, Union Gap & The Wurzels - what's not to love! :xgrin: More to be added soon too according to the website.

Sunshine is a well established festival with fans returning each year so could sell out so not so much leverage on ticket prices as up & coming festivals but we will try! The more interest there is & if booking early the better chance there is of a discount.
Another option (run by the same organisers as Sunshine) is the Mello Festival http://www.mellofestival.co.uk/ earlier in the year on the Bank Holiday 26-29 May at Throckmorton Airfield, Evesham, Worcestershire - the website prices are cheaper so maybe another one to consider if they can offer a good discount? So far they have Hawkwind, Lucy Spraggan, Altered Images, Johnny Hates Jazz, Urban Cookie Collective, Rozalla, Goldie Looking Chain, Republica & more to be added.
We volunteered at Retrofestival Newbury (friendly & great fun :xgrin:), Valleyfest (brilliant!) last year & went along to River Cottage Festival (their first one - low key but good) & found that motorhoming & festivals go very well together:xThumb: We did think that we would be the oldest ones there (especially at Valleyfest) but good mix of ages & great atmosphere at all that we went to so hoping to fit a few more festivals in this year & maybe help expand the range of potential meets/rallies for Funsters...

Upton Blues is one we would like to try this year too (y) What was the camping area like, did Funsters get to pitch together, were the toilets & showers ok?

Thank you for all the interest so far :hi: Anyone considering this (Sunshine, Mello or both!) please also post as more interest hopefully means more chance of a discounted price from the organisers :)

@Wombles we saw two groups of Funsters who managed to camp together, one lot near the river and another group about two thirds of the way to the back of the site. I think if you want to camp together you need to turn up together, maybe one of the groups will post (was @Welsh girl in the riverside group ?)
Blokes toilets were fine, but there was often a sizeable queue for the showers, especially in the morning but it did seem to be moving ok. We mostly used our own facilities.

I was parked up next to the Funster band, Rex factor, who were performing at the show.
At the Blues festival last year the streets were packed. Fantastic weekend.

We've been to the Sunshine and met up with a few Funsters for the last 5 years it was probably us you saw usually 5 or 6 vans. Basically if you want to park together you really need to turn up together, this can be done by meeting up in the big car park in Upton (where you can overnight) then all entering the showground together. It is possible to save a space for a latecomer but the site gets very very busy and before you know it you'll have a caravan or 3 or 4 tents camped right next to you. Not a bad festival and got very popular now with some really decent bands.
Very much doubt you'll get a discount but you never know. Normally discount is only offered on early bird sales which usually end in January.
We're giving it a miss this year as we fancy a change, may just go for a day visit if there's a band on we fancy seeing as its only 40 minutes from where we live.
Very strict on drink being taken in you must buy at their bars and its expensive, last year security were going around confiscating smuggled in drinks very aggressively led to a few interesting confrontations.
Hope you enjoy it's a good festival and a nice little town especially if the weather is nice.(y)(y)

sunshine sounds like fun

same site as the Upton Blues & Jazz Festivals.

There were some FUNsters at that last year, the atmosphere was fantastic. The camping field very good. All could change if the river floods of course.

1. Wombles - Alan & Karen
2. Hilldweller - Brian & Dinah

Please post on this thread or message to receive a booking form :) Sunshine Festival does sell out so this is a limited time offer!
