Tryed to grow my own sprouts for Xmas but all have blown.
IE not formed.
So took the top leaves of and cooked them instead just taste like spring cabbage

funny thing about sprouts, until they see a good frost, they always blow up, all loose. My grandad taught me that, er rather a long time ago

They were 19p a big bag full from Aldi this year and Tesco ,Lidll soon followed suit. And I think Sainsbury's went cheaper as well. Currently they are 95p in Aldi but I' m all sprouted out now and back to cabbage. although I do like home grown ,it's sometimes not that cost/ time effective when shops like Aldi can almost give stuff away,( carrots 19 p ,spuds 49 p, parsnips 19 p, swede 19 p ,cabbage 49 p. )

pretty much, you will get a few, but not a full crop

My kids wouldn’t go anywhere near them, called them Satan’s sprouts.
Renamed them to ‘baby cabbages’ - no problem
Strange things kids!!
