Opening Calor Gas bottle (1 Viewer)

Away just having had Habitation service and can’t turn gas on. 90 mins away from service centre. Fortunately switched pipe to second bottle and plan to resolve problem when back home. Any tips for opening a tight tap?

Can you try one of the older persons bottle gripper thingies Made of plastic so wont damage the tap.?

a strap wrench works. Never use any steel tool directly on a bottle and careful you don't break the seal on the valve into the cylinder as liquid LPG is very nasty to deal with

Just to be clear is it this one - also remember it is a regular right hand thread

It's the tap.....not the hose connection

Try pouring some hot water over the tap

This is a good point and the reason you should always open a valve fully and then close it a half turn.....

Is it Propane or Butane. I had just assumed Propane untill I saw the blue bottle in an earlier post.

Either way, you could take this a hint to channge to LPG. (Safefill, maybe?)
