As it’s plastic it is supposed to help you not over tightening. I would also think it prevents you rounding the nuts.

Just buy a steel one, cheap enough.

Funny enough I was googling how to clean my truma regulator filter yesterday and this is the tool to undo them.👍
Yep. Just some mine today. Clean as a whistle👍
Question. I have just replaced the pigtail to the regulator and have used an adjustable spanner to just ‘ nip up’ the nut. I did read I think that they should only be finger tight. The other end at the Spanish bottle end has a knurled nut so tools are not used. Is that right?

Doesn't everyone have a set of 'Mole' grips?
Any tool that clamps is not a good idea on basically flimsy brass gas connectors, too much pressure will deform the fitting and make it impossible to determine the amount of tightening force has been applied to the seal joint

See Lenny HB 's reaction to my post.
problem is not as many people who you might expect know the right tool or reasons to use it. Many people never see tools in their day job and have zero diy skills. This gave me a steady supply of customers throughout my working life

Very handy if you have the older Truma filter, it works very well on that. Never tried it on the regulator.

As others have said, it is for the gas regulator hoses, if you tighten it so the plastic starts to deform then its too tight, I still have the original plastic one from my first MH in 2013, still use at and its still ok.....
