Didn't want to go there anyway!

Does the Councillor have any connection to Caravan and Camping sites I wonder ?

The town council are so knowledgeable on the subject !!!

Apparently motorhomers need showers and toilets????

Most of us bring those with us

Never been there but won't bother now, either in MH or car.

we took the kids there once when they were little. There are some massive ghettos on the main road into the place; I think they call them caravan sites:Eeek:

I guess they are just concerned that it will be used as a cheap overnight for homes heading for Cornwall on the M5. Cant blame them.

The council have provided motorhome parking with clearly marked out bays .. about 15 or 16 (as viewed on Google maps.. )

Perhaps the MCC didn't make a good case for allowing overnight stops.. ie , that motorhomes don't need facilities, and it could have a 24 hr limit, thereby allaying fears of a camp site springing up and being filled by Gypsies.. .. Only they know as we are not privy to that information.

It does seem a bit strange that they are happy to provide parking but not overnight.. but at the end of the day, they represent the tax payers, not motorhome owners.

Where is Burnham on sea?

Think the answer is simple, during the day you spend money, at night you create, havoc, by parking. Loud TV's, Radios etc to upset the locals. Throw waste without concern across the car park, dump water, some maybe from the loo, disgusting, foul cretins, I would not want you parking in my beautiful city streets or car parks.
Wait.........none of the above is correct.

Well there are lots of caravan sites near to hand............use them!!

Or as a lot of you have said just avoid the area, lost income to their economy...........Tuff, sure there will be plenty of accommodating areas.

The link gives some responses from local residents.

Toilets, showers and waste facilities would be needed.

What gives them this impression...have any of the councillors ever been inside a motorhome or are they just assuming as they are usual on camp sites it's something which is necessary ?

They probably haven't. It's easy for us but (as with many things) those not "in" don't have the knowledge because they've never had occasion to acquire it.

When we were talking to Redcar & Cleveland about Guisborough, David Lloyd (the person who was the main driver behind it) took his van to a meeting to show the people we were talking to - and they were surprised at what facilities are available.

As Jim said, perhaps the MCC didn't make a good case.

EDIT. Having seen the comments from locals then if those about tea bags &c are true then, as so often, a few spoil it for many and it's no surprise that the councillors are wary.
