I bit the bullet and purchased 2 Mopeka LPG tank gauges.

Despite falling over at the cost of these things and being told that i should be happy about it ive now installed them.

Ive levelled them up and got the app. When i fitted them I had 53pc in one bottle and 56pc in the other.
I used them this weekend since Thursday, turned off 1 bottle and being cold blasted the gas alot.

I thought on the way home i would fill up with LPG with one bottle now reading 43pc and the other of course 56pc.
I filled up with LPG and put in 18 litres.

Both bottles now read 97pc and 95pc respectively. So how can this be and what am i missing?
Firstly, They are both 11kg Gaslow bottles with 80 pc cutt off protection? So surely, they cant be at 95/97pc?

Also each bottle filled to 80pc can only have 21 litres of gas. When i do the maths from the 43/56pc state prior to filling 21 litres and a bit would be required to bring them to 80pc yet only 18 litres was used?

So, are they accurate? Is there something wrong with my calcs? And lastly are they only measuring the 80pc cut off? Therefore am i 97pc full out of 80pc?

My understanding is that 11 kgs is at 80%.
So as said above you have 97% of 11kgs ( of 80%)

Ok, so taking as you say, how would it know? Looking at the bottle, its cylindrical with vacum or void space? Float rises to 80pc but there is still a void at the top, therefore why would it not read 80pc full?
Ive added a picture but surely Mopeka would not know the 80pc rule ? Or would it ?

Mine show max of 80% when full. Sooking eggs and all that but I assume you have set up settings for type/size of cylinder etc.

The Mopeka uses ultrasonic radio waves to sense the point where the liquid ends and the gas starts as the ultrasonic wave flow differentially through liquid and gas. The original float system to measure the gas level in the cylinder is irrelevant to the Mopeka's operation.

No, not at all..

I've not set anything up? Didn't seem to be instructions to do that? Mine are the new circle ones.

Exactly what I'm saying. Therefore they should read 80 percent when full...

Maybe i need to set something up but then my bottles can't be 95pc regardless

Ok so I've been in the MH like some sort of god.

I've updated the info as suggested, I've even named the bottles ...

Put them in as 11kg bottles. One says 88pc one now at 87pc (number 1)

So what's wrong now?

If they still don’t reflect accurate level I may try and check sensors are located on centre of bottom of bottle. They sometimes move when refitting bottle. Took me a bit of time to get them centred but after that they are pretty accurate.

I’ve got Gaslow bottle…..I put a little bit of anti slip mat under bottle as the sensor was touching bottom of locker….mat was just enough to lift it a few mm’s.

They give a good estimate imho but need to be checked that they are still stuck to the bottom of the bottle and are central. Their very picky about being central! I also saw advice that they benefit from a smear of silicone grease on the bottom of the bottle. I had to put a wooden plank in my gas bottle hatch with two holes in to raise the bottles off the bottom of the cabinet but mine are GASIT.

How much were they?

Gaslows Wave bluetooth sensors are pricey but good bit of kit as far as accuracy and ease of use.

they come in at ÂŁ77 each, obviously need 2 if you want to measure two bottles. Then you can use the App or you can buy a visible sensor for ÂŁ55.

Took a bit of getting set correctly but worth the effort do remember to set the check time to the max or the batteries will be flat pretty quickly.

I have quite an old Mopeka... so may have been upgraded
But on my app it asks to input tank height regardless of whether it is an underslung tank or an upright bottle..đź‘Ťđź‘Ť

I've got the old one, I filled up the cylinder and manually changed the height of the cylinder till the app showed 100% and then ran it till it was empty, and noted the % .
So now I know when I'm likely to run out and need to refill

I've just started using a Mopeka device too. I'm using it on a 6kg calor cylinder. The app allowed me to identify my cylinder and size. I attached it to a full cylinder and was a bit confused as it only read 86% but reading the above posts I guess this is normal.
