I saw one of these hovering by our buddleia bush about a month ago in the very hot weather. Beautiful little thing, bright orangey pink wing colour caught my attention.
It seems they're quite rare in UK. Has anyone else seen one?

Since 2017. Before had caravan, folding camper and various tents.
We had one in the garden a month ago. My mum has had a few, she lives in Norfolk.
They are fascinating things. First time I saw one in France I couldnā€™t believe what I was seeing.

We have had several around here in the last few summers what I also had on my garden path this summer was an Elephant Hawk Moth Caterpillar (never seen one before and looked very scary, took picture but, at the moment, cannot download) :banghead:

It is a beautiful day flying moth. I saw one on my buddleya in August, the first for several years. I hope they are making a comeback.

This has been a poor year for butterflies except large whites. Only seen a couple of red admirals and unusually no peacock ones.

We had this one in the garden a few years ago,

They like Fuschia apparently,

EDIT the reply was to "elephant hawk moth" comment ;)

But I did snap this a few years ago in the Czech republic,

They have been reported in huge amounts this year many are from people who've never seen them before
They're beautiful little things - but the ones in France don't half move faster than the ones here
