As I'm too stingy to buy image software I've used this for small stuff where paint just wouldn't do. It's quite powerful but not exactly intuitive. But then I suspect most graphics type stuff is confusing. As free open source it costs you nothing to try it.

I use Gimp, and it for many years, .. steep learning curve but plenty of help on-line and with plenty effects called scripts you can add ..

However, I also have Affinity Photo .. as good if not better than Photoshop

Give Gimp a whirl, free open source, nothing to lose

Both require a decent amount of memory to run smoothly

I use it for the small jobs I need doing. I don't do anything major. But fixing white balance, adjusting colours, cutting out parts of a picture, setting transparencies etc. Does what I need it to do.

Also a fan of Affinity. I found it much more user friendly than Photoshop and also much cheaper (though I never bought Photoshop. Used a friend’s).

I agree, I also had a "friends" copy of Photoshop

I used to use Gimp a lot until I found Irfanview which for quick edits, resizing, colour changing etc is great. Freeware. Like all, there is a leaning curve but not particularly steep.

Can you use Irfanview on android as I found something saying you can't. Norma

I don't think so. I had not read that as a requirement on this occasion. 🤔

Karl Gromett is probably best placed to recommend an Android alternative.

Ive used Gimp both on Linux and Windows. I would reccomend it if you are looking for free or opensource software. A very step learning curve. Capable but hard work (i used at work). At home i use photoshop elements 15 (ÂŁ80 at time) easier to use but Gimp as effective.
