We are going the CC site in Cirencester in April with a couple of Welsh friends ! He is the spit of Victor Meldrew in actions as well !

I do hope he rears up if antagonised !!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Any one been there ?????:Cool::Cool::Cool:

Other than that, I have never had any problems on a CC site !!!

The warders at Cirencester are always lovely!

They were fantastic when the dogs locked me out of the van one night when I went to put the rubbish in the bin.

They devised an ingenious way to get me back in and much fun was had by all :roflmto:

I may have been lucky.............perhaps just one surly CC warden over 10 years. And he was just grumpy.

What I have seen many many times are rude and aggressive "members"
having a go at the wardens.......I saw one guy reduce the wardens wife to tears...........So its not all one way traffic.

In the main I think they do a great job and most are friendly and very helpful.....

weve had a few run ins with CC wardens;

first was when we were set up and had an awning up ( we do sometimes in the colder months ).. the dog was laying in the awning between our chairs while we had a cup of coffee.
Wardens ( x2 male and female ) were walking past and stopped looked at us and "CALLED " the dog. then tried gave us a B****ing caus dog was not on his lead. i was less than happy .

on a similar not to the OP we were at a CC site and wanted to drop our grey water which was a manhole cover in the side of the site road, it was on the right hand side and the road was one way. my outlet is on the left side  so i asked if i could turn around against the one way to use the drop. Answer NO against safety rules. when i asked how was i and other motorhomes with outlets the opposite side supposed to use this facilty? i got the answer thats the facility available and them is the rules.

conversely, i have met many that have been exceptional in all respects.:thumb:

It MUST be a family thing.. My daughter, my son and myself have all had massive run ins with CC wardens ( warders !! ), always over trivial, thoughtless or at best ill thought out petty rules

C and CC must have similarly pedantic wardens but we have never found a single one.

I suspect the CC has a thing agin my whole family ( esp after they blackballed me for 'complaining too vociferously over e-mails sent' ( the emails sent was a constant flow of spamming adverts on a daily basis that even their IT chap agreed was both nuts and a pain in the parts.. I was getting upwards of 10 a day !! )

I make of point of leaving feedback, good or bad, on their websites and on UKcampsites website so other members know what to expect.

Back home and got an email asking me to leave a review. So I did. First time I have had an issue with a Warden in about 14 years on a CC site and it was minor so I won't lose any sleep over it......

Anyone tried writing a less than complementary letter to the CC magazine?

I have a couple of times, but, surprise surprise, they were not printed. My first letter pointed out that their "motorhome of the year" competition that did not feature a single non british van in the first three positions in any category (except A class where there are no British vans) may have been a tad biased.

Another time I pointed out that continental sites that allowed families to stay late on sundays, ie the end of a weekend, was a touch more user friendly than the strict CC 12o'clock rule. And, bearing the 12 O'clock rule in mind, why are the loos always closed from 11 for cleaning! But again, not printed!

not a cc site but at a site just out side stratford on avon we arrived ten minutes in front of my son we were escorted onto our pitch ,no choice despite the place being empty , by a flag waving warden in a golf cart
i always orientate the van to get the afternoon sun on the hab door side but this wasnt allowed only parking in one direction he then made me move to the left by about 6 inches as i was to close to the line
during this my son had pulled into the area by the office (all of 60 yards away and in full view) but wasnt allowed to drive down without the golf cart escort
once he was happy we were in the exact position of he went and escorted my son down now i dont know about you but we tend to park so our hab doors are facing this was strictly verbooten when i asked why he said "we don't encourage enclaves"
how two vans 10 meters apart form an enclave i don't know
we was tempted to sit out side our vans and shout to each other all night
so we decided to go for a meal in the local pub where i was told of for taking a photo of the menu which was on the wall and the girls were in the garden
then i asked for a larger top and he put the lemonade in the bottom of the glass so next time i went in for the second drink i asked for a larger bottom and he still put the lemonade in the bottom when i asked why he couldnt put the lemonade on the top i was told it against the law to adulterate beer
when we tried to order the meal we were 4 minutes past last orders(8pm) why he didnt tell me when i photographed the menu?
all in all i doubt if either pub or site will see us again not one of our better stopovers

I think we have been to the same site. We were travelling with friends, and at every other site we were able to pitch up with our hab doors facing each other. Not here, oh no, continental doors have to go on the other side of the road to British vans, so that they all face the same way, and look neat. I can understand the logic in that it offers privacy to each motorhome but fail to see why we can't choose which way to face if we are travelling together.

We have also been told to move 6 inches on a C & CCsite hardstanding in December, in the snow, because there was not enough room for the mower to cut the grass!!.

Be VERY careful if you want to remain a member.. I got blackballed for far less and told in no uncertain terms 'my type is not wanted' !!!

The CC do get some things right then. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yes, I know John, I'm a cheeky so and so, but I couldn't resist. :winky:

CC site use for us has mostly been Craigie Gardens - Ayr, Gowerton - Swansea, and more recently, Chapel Lane - Solihull. We've not had a problem at either, and my attitude is that I have paid for a pitch, and providing I am not putting someone else in danger, or inconveniencing them, then I should be able to pitch whichever way round I like. I always leave room for the mowers to gain access, and if the manhole for the grey waste is on the opposite side for our outlet, I will turn round using a vacant pitch near the MH point, or, I'll get my trusty Fire Bucket out, and use that to decant. :thumb:

In the recent surveys sent out by the CC, I have often commented on the bias towards "caravans" and the lack of consideration for the increasing number of MHs. It is also my opinion, (annotated in the surveys too) that whatever they want to call it, at the end of the day they are running it as a profit making business, rather than a "Club" for it's "Members"

Cheers for now,

Jock.

Although a Caravan Club CL 5 van site - is definitely friendly to everyone!
You have a funster living in one of the cottages on site too!

The owners aim the website more at the holiday cottages on farm. The campsite is listed through CC and online directories which does keep the place busy. Most of last month it was at capacity which I thought was quite early, and it has had regular visitors throughout the winter.

It is sloped, but very friendly! Good amenities, Grey water dump, loos, showers, elsan point, dog walking area, hard/grass pitch etc. Plenty there - but do bring you ramps as it does slope gently. The rates are cheap at around £10-12 a night serviced!:thumb:
