I’ve read through the other posts on this and find the info conflicts slightly also the Fiat Ducato Facebook page is the same

I have a 2022 series 8 2186cc Fiat Ducato based Motorhome on a 9 speed auto box
Do I have a chain or a belt for the timing belt please?
Here is a photo of the engine info plate

You have a belt the only Fiat engine with a chain was the 3 Lt made from 2006 until 2016.

Some of the eairler Ducato's with the 2.2 Ford engine had a chain, all the current 2.2 engines are Fiat.
Thanks Lenny, that’s a shame as I was hoping for a chain so as not to worry when the time comes to replace the belt 🤷‍♂️

Sideshow Bob , If you need more information , there is a Fiat Ducato series 8 owners handbook in the Manuals for Motorhomes stuff section of Resources with the cambelt replacement information on pages 253/254

Just out of interest Bob, have you had a quote yet? Ours is due and quoted £1300 at local dealers.

There must also be a mileage schedule as well.
The van may only do a thousand miles a year or may be started from new and never switched off except servicing.
Average seems to be 80000 miles or 5 years whichever comes first

No, sorry -,this came about from a random question to my mechanic asking if he could change and it was him that said check it’s not a chain - only 2 years old and less than 10k miles at the moment

Some people think that because Fiat are now fitting a 2.2l engine instead of a 2.3l it must be the same as the 2.2l chain driven one used by Peugeot. As Lenny HB has already said this is not the case. The Fiat 2.2 is an entirely new engine with a very slightly different cc but it does seem to be confusing people on several Forums, including the Fiat one.

General rule is chains have metal timing covers, belts have plastic cases!
