Just looking
Hi all.
Thinking of my next project having done one camper build based on a 2016 2.3 Ducato.
Would love to do one based on a 3 litre petrol engine but not 100% sure they did that size and if/when discontinued.
Would consider 2.8 diesel.
Any info, Pros/cons etc much appreciated.
And what other van had/still have petrol engines.
I just like petrol better, no real logic behind it.
Happy Jack.

Not sure there were any recent petrol engine big vans?

You could import a Dodge Ram from the States, but there are some very scathing reviews on here of the drive.

Since 2008 & many years tugging
The 3 Lt Ducato was made until 2016.

Edit:
Didn't noticed he said petrol, I don't think petrol vans have been made for over 25 years

Don’t think you’d get the torque from a petrol engine, great at bhp, but lower torque.

It’s why the British Army switched from petrol engines across its heavy armoured vehicles, to diesel. Much more grunt to keep the larger vehicles moving.

Would love to see your project 👍🏻

Broken most bits now
You'd need way more than 3.0l to match the diesel torque. That would make it a pretty heavy fuel user and still no more fun to drive

The 3 litre Ducato diesel engine from 2007 to 2016, is a cracking good engine, has a cam chain as well and 6 speed box.
