Please read the following then comment with your thoughts.
The cost per night has gone up at the wheel a whopping 50%.
After our £1 discount this means its costing £14 per night for the car park. Very expensive in my opinion.

There is a water tap on car park. Showers ,toilets and Elsan point are a walk down the hill to the main building.
I will start a separate thread for those wishing to go and see how the numbers are next week when a decision will be made whether to go ahead or look for an alternative venue to host the meet. Date will NOT be changed.

Bring some £1s so I can relieve you of them during the weekend. They will go to a good cause to be announced soon.

I think I need to come up for this Sandra, please put me down....
Thought You said it was going to be called The Pound Meet next time?:) X
It was Debs, but there will be no charity collecting here. :-(Gawd you would need a 2nd mortgage after the price hike. Prize for the robber must surely go to the wheel. I have tried to negotiate further pointing out their 50% hike, but as yet no further movement. :-(

Tell them I have lots of spare spanners to throw in the works :D

Please put us in for this.
We need to be up in Scotland about then so should fit.
If its at another location somewhere nearby then thats OK as well
Thx

shame its at the end of June , much preferred the last years dates :(

I missed this year too and everyone said it was good. Will put my name down and I'm also flexible as to sites. Seems like they're trying it on with that price rise though. Really we should boycott it but I would like to go.

Oh bugger it. Lets do it.:rofl:

We stayed at the Wheel in Sept, knowing the cost had gone up since last year, but "it had to be done".

One camper told us that you can stay at the Kelpies "free of charge" by which, we discovered, they meant £4 for the nearest spot but totally free a bit further away. Worth an ask?

Gordon

Done the wheel. That was expensive to ride but worth it. We went when it was £10 to park. Really is quite a trek to the shower block- be warned.
The kelpies mentioned by @Rapido925M sound interesting to us.

I am sure you can lean on them Sandra, £15 might be OK for one off visitors, 30 odd in one booking deserve £10 / night rate

I am happy to have a word, but would have thought you are even more scary than me :)

BTW can I opt out of the prancing in advance  please

just seen note about Kelpies while I was posting, that site is right beside the motorway and might be noisy, even if free / cheaper

Sandra do we get anything in with the multiple booking ? cheaper boat ride? anything? I am sure they must have a manhole they could open at car park level, might be worth asking? anything would help accommodate the monster increase (y)

another note about the Kelpies, we parked there in August, there is barely room for the few visitors who turn up and share the space with coaches, it wouldn't work as a rally location IMO o_O

Put me down please, I have been and it's well worth another visit

David be rest assured I have been putting a strong case for a better discount rate than the measly £1 offered. I am awaiting another reply though none forthcoming as yet. Staff hrs have been cut so emails take longer and its no longer Marian that deals with the group bookings. The date has been accepted by the wheel though I have still to confirm their offerings. I have also asked for a heavily discounted boat trip.

I say we pay on exit, leave you with £10 per night per outfit and clear off sharpish :LOL:

You mean your not coming for the dancing. Im sure Bed would love to see your skills and what about poor Lola, she really enjoyed it.

Im amazed. Despite the extortionate price we are now into the 20s in numbers n half the folk wont even be there for the wheel.

For the newcomers to this meet. Ive become a bit of an expert at extracting £s from the funsters any way I can during the weekend. Beware.
This year all money extracted will be going to the unit that took care of a fellow funster until he very sadly passed away recently @Debs

All money raised will be going to The Critical Care Unit at Nottingham Hospital, give a penny, give a £1 or more.. all adds up folks . Ex: Ceilidh participant £1, Those that spectate at the fun of the ceilidh participants £1. Don't get to know your fellow funsters and fail the name the person quiz..its a £1. Be shown a horrid photo yourself:pPay £1 to avoid it being posted on fun.

You can forfeit the tasks any time and cough up the £1..you are NOT obliged to participate in the tongue n cheek fun but please bear in mind the cause and where the money is going . Save up your £s now guys n gals :-) I will regard you as participating unless you ask to opt out!(y)
