@ShiftZZ which model camera are you using?

There are two groups of lenses - EF & EF-S in the Canon brand, the cheaper brands call them different things - and the don't all work with all the models of body. If you have a full frame model you can only use EF lenses and will struggle to find any cheaper 'fit' ones.
