Hope no one is / was hurt.

The background story would be nice to know. Hope it isn't vandalism.....

Weymouth is well known for vehicle arson attacks - so I would not be surprised if it was.

According to an eye witness...... The guy just got in and started the engine and up it went.... :crying:

NO arson this time...

Looks like a nearly new VW T5.

To correct my earlier post - it didn't seem to be arson

Quote from the local paper:-

"One eyewitness described how they saw smoke.

He said: "I didn't see it, I just saw a lot of smoke. What people said happened was that he put the key in and the engine went and then it just went up in flames."

Oh dear, whereabouts in Weymouth is this?

A road in Weymouth was closed due to a vehicle fire.

The incident happened on Cassiobury Road, at the junction of Avenue Road earlier this morning.

Firefighters said that a campervan was involved in the fire and was 'severely damaged' in the blaze.

Two crews from Weymouth attended the fire, which was extinguished using hose reel jets.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at 7.53am and the fire service received nine calls in total about the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The road is now believed to be back open and was re-opened at approximately 9am.

One eyewitness described how they saw smoke.

He said: "I didn't see it, I just saw a lot of smoke. What people said happened was that he put the key in and the engine went and then it just went up in flames."
