Does anyone know of any planned rallies to this years balloon fest.....cheers..Dave

The Bristol Balloon festival falls the same weekend as Malvern show this year :( . We shall be going to the balloon festival we always camp on the farmers field opposite and go in gerneral camping . Motor Caravaners Club hold a rally on the field below us . You do not have to book just turn up but you do have to be a member of the MCC . There was a Funster Rally last year i'm sure if they are doing it again this year they will be along shortly .

Kind regards Kate

Read on another thread that no Fun rally planned for this years Balloon Festival :( but this is where we stayed last year with toilets & communal showers (seperate for male & female) http://www.cothampark.co.uk/balloon-fiesta-camping which can be booked direct. It was great to have those facilities plus the large indoor bar area & be in a quiet spot away from the hubbub of the Festival. It was well run by the RFC who were helpful with advice about the local walks & the pub nearby too. The RFC ran a quiz one night & a disco on another but we were too busy chatting to other Funsters :) It is a pleasant walk down to the Festival across the golf course (take a torch) but a steep walk back uphill in places so not ideal for everyone. Great view of Bristol in the distance from the golf course especially when lit up at night. The campsite that Ambilkate mentioned is very popular being an easy level walk across the road to the Festival & you get to see all the balloons from your motorhome (y)
Would recommend going during the weekdays & see the Thursday Nightglow as it is the same as the Saturday one but much less crowded. We did both but the Saturday was so packed that they shut the entry gates as crowds were getting to dangerous levels... During the week you can walk around & enjoy the stands rather than be climbing over people sat on the ground & pushed along in crowds.

This is the beauty spot a short walk on a footpath from the RFC http://www.abbotsleigh.org.uk/village-features/abbots-pool/ which locals use for wild swimming.

It is a tough choice this year with the Balloon Festival, Retro Festival & Malvern all on the same weekend! It is possible though to do Thursday day & Nightglow at the Balloon Festival then Friday onwards at either Retro Festival or Malvern :D

there aren't any more clashing but we're looking forward to chester and Peterborough this year both new to us.

I had to miss last year's meet because of a family death so I intend to go this year hopefully to stay at the Cotham park site, will any other funsters be going.
