Hello campers, we’re thinking of spending some time on the Vosges Mountains generally on the route of Circuit Des Cretes, walking and mountain biking.

We’re interested to know if any of you good people have travelled in this area recently and could make any recommendations on campsites, aires & good places to visit.
Even better if you know of some good mountain biking.

Neilh Have you done the route yet? We may try it later this week. Some friends are also doing it but on bikes as part of a cycle tour which they started in Karlsruhe.

If you can suggest any good aires that would be very helpful. My own quick check suggests there are several parking areas on the route which can be used but ones with services seem scarce. If you can post anything on here it will be useful for anyone searching later. A search was how I found this thread.

Hi we did the route South to North.
Notable campsites, aires and parking.
Lac Blanc - Les Terrace du lac Blanc. Parking with electric in the auberge car park. Amazing views and quiet, scenic circular walk around the upper perimeter of the lake. 11.00 euro ish. Ski lift open for mountain bike uplift at the weekend, full face helmet required!

Col Des bagenelles Stainte MarieUx Mines. Free car park, with the best views ever. No services except bins. Friendly auberge 500mtrs up the track. Very interesting walk along the northern ridge. Large rock with steel hand holds, if you’re able to climb up the views are stunning (1st ww look out)

Gerardmer Camping du Lac, 10.50 euro hook up good toilets showers, walk across the road for a swim in the lake. The walk over the hill to Lac Lispach wax worthwhile, bit steep!

We stayed in several passion France vineyards, which where good and free.

Also used the modern new Aire in Ribeauville centre, which was 5 minutes from the town centre, 13euro ish.

We can’t speak highly enough of this area of France particularly for walking and cycling.

If there’s anything in particular let us know.

Neil
