My quad bike has one and I use it to pull quite large trees after cutting them down..It is a powerful bit of gear and light weight. it could be attached by chain to a toweye as a separate unit but getting the power needs a starter cable and earth. I would certainly pull a van off a muddy field provided there was a strong place to put your strop for the cable. They do not to be particulay powerful as they are NOT LIFTING the van only pulling and a damn sight stronger than ten people pushing one.
