Hello all,
We have finally got our new 5th wheeler and are booked in to a site in the I O Wight.
I hope this isn't a daft question about the ferry.
Do You have to turn round on the ferry or is it drive straight through?
I'm concerned because of the turning circle of these rigs.
Hoping the front of the trailer will not hit the pickup on a tight turn.

Steve

We went on Wightlink and it was a drive on drive off ferry - so no turning round on that one.

Should have said, we are booked on the Wightlink service from Portsmouth and we have a 28ft kountrylite pulled by a navara.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We drove in one end and out the other when we went. We did the same on all the ferries on our recent Hebrides trip too. They were checking all the heights on the iow trip. But just the length on the Hebrides one.

Thanks all for the answers,
Back from the trip and we had a great time, just one tight spot getting in to the c&cc site at adgestone, and luckily we didn't forget anything major so it made for a very successful first trip.

Speaking of ferries ........ we're planning to take our 34 foot 5th wheel from Plymouth to Roscoff in the new year. Has anyone out there any recommendation as to which ferry company to use and any stories of problems we might encounter?

many thanks

It is a straight drive on and drive off on all 3 carry ferry services.
If you are a member of camping & caravanning club and book your ferry through there ferry services page you can get a far better discount than any other way.
Have a good time on our fantastic island.

I tried that. They quoted the same as the ferry companies.

Yes, I'm not aware of any other companies doing that route. I've booked directly but try the CC as well. You might get a bit of a saving.

It's drive on drive off.

Hi
If you go from Portsmouth to Bilboa with Britany Ferries at any time be aware that the Pont Avent as a turning circle at the top end not too small but be aware. Pete
