Anyone got or had experience of owning a 2007 B654 (or similar weight/year van) coupled with the Fiat 2.3Ltr diesel engine please.
Viewed a very nice Hymer B654 today (unladen weight approx 3000Kg, plated at 4000Kg max). Drives well, and no apparent reversing judders on test drive.
From earlier threads I'd had in mind to look for a 3Ltr engine but this one has come about.
From your experiences is the engine adequate or underpowered for the van please?

We have just bought a 2007 Bessacarr E795 which has the Fiat 2.3ltr 130 engine and is plated at 4250kg.
My first impression, having driven it about 400 miles is that the engine is more than adequate (caveat - I haven't weighed the van yet but we had all the kit from the old van plus a full water tank most of the time). If the trip computer is to be believed it is returning 26.9mpg (I drive at 50-60 on Motorways) I do have to change down when I come to inclines but no more that when I had a 2.8 Iveco on a 4200kg Laika.

Thanks, that's encouraging to hear. I've since also heard that the newer 2.3 engine is in fact more powerful than the earlier 2.8 (which is in the B584). So, it's looking ok, thanks.
