Just made up a 10m cable using 2.5mm cable and these -
http://www.thecaravanshop.co.uk/electrical-products/mains-plugs-sockets/mains-coupler/prod_878.html

http://www.thecaravanshop.co.uk/ele...s-plugs-sockets/mains-site-plug/prod_879.html

The electrical connections and the screwed flex retention grips were a dawdle however pushing the cable through the end of the units was very tight. Stretched the holes with a pair of fine nosed pliers and they returned to original shape \ size after the cable was through making a good rainproof fitting.

If presented with a tight hole, lube up :giggler:
- talc powder makes the job easier (y)

It's pretty cheap but when you can a 25 metre cable for just over £26 including the plugs and delivery, is it worth the bother?

No the regs BS7671 are not law but they may be cited in a court of law as the definative guide.

It is also bullshit. I've never been on a site that asks to see a PAT test label on a hook up lead :ROFLMAO:

Actually there is no statutory requirement to PAT test anything anywhere ever. There is a requirement to ensure the electrical equipment accessible to the public or employees is kept in a safe condition. It is perfectly acceptable to do that by other means, for example a risk assessment could show that the possibility of damage is so remote that a regular visual check it sufficient.

Can't remember ;)
Hi Dave are you going for the longest thread or cable :D-You have loads of links to both cables and leads --Since your hook up plug that you plug into will be 16 amps there is no need or requirement to go for bigger cabling unless you think it will prove the better option ;)Nothing in your van will require anything bigger than 16 amps which is basically what your HU will be at max

Some really cheap cable I have seen is just not soft and flexible enough for motorhome use. The cheap stuff has a mind of its own and kinks, twists and tangles easily. Make sure you've not bought such stuff, you'll curse every time you stow it.

watched a program called fake Britain, loads of dodgy cable being sold, cheap and not being up to standard it says on labels be very careful where you buy cable from. it can be potentially dangerous. its all brand new looks like the real deal. just be sure to buy from reputable dealer. and no I am not a dealer.
