over the bridge now crank gone for re work and striped every thing down just cleaning it all up now then flus oil system done so much work today on it may as well finish the job now but PM sent engine cant be any later than 1991 explained in pm

the crank sheft cam back this morning working on cleaning all the oil way's should start rebuild by Thursday will replace oil pump later today.
going to flus all the oil ways with clean oil and blow out with air till every thing is spotless

oil pump changed everything nice and clean crank and crank case in place just nipped up put big end shells in tomorrow
should be torqued up every thing to morrow and putting cylinder head back on of to cadet's then a pint I think been at it from 6am this morning

Years ago I had a Mk3 Cortina in Spain.
I was driving slowly close to buildings with the window down, heard the bearings start to rattle, knew something was wrong and switched off'.
Oil pump drive had sheared. Local mechanic pulled out the drive - a hexagonal shaft - no spare available quickly.
He cut down an allen key (6mm I think) - it worked - didn't even change the oil and never did fit the 'proper' shaft.
I was a bit luckier than Bill - hope everything works out
