Just came across this on the BIRD forum..

http://ovivomobile.com/

Basically you pay £15.00 for the sim and that gives you 150 mins, 250 texts, 500MB data per month..
For ever
With nothing more to pay..
A couple of the guys use it and yep, def nowt more to pay if you do not exceed the above

they do other packages if your a big(ger) user and even those are good value.

For someone who just wants emails and the occasional google and perhaps a daily visit on here, it is absolutely perfect !

look at the FREEDOM plan.

£15 initial payment then free if you stay in the plans limits.

Basically a £15 deposit then anything over the plan limit is deducted from the £15
Once the £15 is gone you will be billed for extra calls and data.

the data only SIM at 750mb would be perfect for a mifi unit then other devices can be used simultaneously.

No idea what you would get for 750mb though...suggestions/advice ?

I've gone for one too. Ideal for my Galaxy which only makes rare use of the SIM. Sent for one for Jean too for her Ipad :thumb:

Yes, it is Vodafone..
I have now been using my one for a week.. At the weekend, whilst at Wereham in the wilds of Norfolk, the speed was actually faster than I get here at home ( which was at the same time great and disappointing as it showed how awful my speed is whilst at home ! )

Vodafone...not for me then.

i already have a none expiring voda data only sim.

at home i get 3G.......in town (Scarborough) i get no signal in many places indoors and 2G outdoors.....on Whitby's west cliff i got 2G.

looking at Vodafones coverage map, Scarborough is in a black hole.

I have seen this before. It seems once you pay your £15 you pay nothing more for the Freedom cheapest deal, unless you exceed your limits. Its revenue stream comes I am told from the pop up ads that appear every time you go on the web. That was what put me off.

I think I will be moving over to Giff gaff next week when my O2 contract finishes. A £10 goodbag gets you 500 minutes, endless texts and 1Gb of data. It also lets you tether your PC or tablet.

Pop up advert

All I get is ONE advert when I first fire it up.. Do not get any more at all..
I can live with that for what is effectively free wifi for life after that first £15.00 ! :thumb:

I'm rather confused - what does the reference to "ipad" mean. This is a SIM card that can, presumably, be used in place on any other SIM card in any other device that needs a SIM card!!

I think it's fine for any SIM device but to remain free would need to stay within quota, which is not necessarily as likely on a phone, but still very doable depending on your usage.

We've had one for my Galaxy and one for Jeans Ipad and will probably get one for our phones when the contracts end.

i have been looking with some interest at this thread as i am looking into buying a tablet and will need one with 3g access so i can take it abroad instead of my laptop.
I was told to get a cheap sim deal to use for the time im away, so this sounds like it may fit the bill.
I also looked up this to help me know whether the 500mb will be enough and others may also find it useful.
http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI...ion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),CASE=29792
although im still havent made up my mind which Tablet to get yet.

Well its been 3 weeks now since I got mine..
It has performed really well everywhere I have tried it.. Been using it for the occasional visit to this and other forums, eBay and a few emails.. Used just over half the allocated allowance so far !! Looks like this is a REALLY good deal !

This sounds as though it would be great for me being as I use very little in the way of call time or tether

So, if i but one of these sim cards i can stuff in in my currant o2 phone and it will work, or does it have to be an unlocked phone

Thanks for the info :thumb:

probably need to unlock phone. simple way to check is put a non O2 sim in and see. unlocking is generally quite simple but it depends on the phone. O2 should provide you with the code but you may have to pay for it, or you use one of the internet cheapies for a code.
