The tour doesn't start properly until I pick Frankie up at Lisbon airport tomorrow at around mid day but I set off for the airport on Tuesday afternoon and am staying overnight close by.

I am afraid I have to report a fairly stress filled trip ending with a wiper problem when 30kms from the destination.

Using the wonders of the internet and mobile communication l was able to use Google to get the German for "windsceen wipers" and then locate the correct fuse from the user's manual.

So I got them going but now they won't stop... which is fine when it is raining but when it stops the motor really strains to move the blades over the dry glass. Definitely don't want to burn out the wiper motor.

I suspect a dodgy multi-way switch on the steering column.

I will have a look in the morning. Just removing the fuse will stop the wiper motor from straining but the indicators are on the same fuse...

Still, I have Portuguese plates and Portuguese drivers are not in the habit of using their indicators that often!

At least I am close enough to walk over to Arrivals if need be...

Can't remember ;)
Do as they did in Bulgaria years ago and take the wipers off ::bigsmile:They did this to stop them getting knicked because they could not buy replacements ::bigsmile: :winky:
On a more practical thing simply pull the wires off the switch -stopping the wipers, untill you get chance to it looked at properly:winky:

Brilliant, in fact replace with one or two simple toggle switches, about 1000% cheaper.

It is a big mobile unit owned by the guy who also gets €2.50 a night from each van (and €2.00 for 110 litres of water.)

I notice they have a "wifi special" where you can buy a meal (€5.50) and get 24 hours wifi included! (Wifi normally €3 for 24 hours.)
