Spotted this a little while ago, parked on an Oxford campsite. Lovely, tidy, little motorhome. What is it? Anyone know anything about it?

If memory serves me right they were a 3 litre petrol engine. A lot of them finished up with the St Johns ambulance and used for private functions by them. Proper coach built body, some built by Jennings.

I went back twice but they were out each time. From what I could see through the window, it was a very tidy conversion:thumb:

Its a Mk1 Morris LD (light delivery) ambulance conversion. A good friend from years back had a Mk2 Austin LD van conversion with a 2.5 taxi diesel in it, not fast but would go on almost indefinitely. He had an incident on the isle of wight where his diff collapsed on a hairpin bend going uphill and completely blocked the road for hours.

The colour looks like "sandstone" which followed to be a leyland and rover colour, lovely colour, and a stunning old van.

It looks like it has the same as my landrover, a "keyhole" in the grille, for a starting handle, you would,nt beleive how many fitters had never seen one of them at work, and the young apprentices were stunned to silence when i started the motor with it.

How do you get to the engine?

Remove the front panel? Through the floor from inside?

Engine cover inside. Same as most light commercials of that era. Bedford CF, Thames, Mercedes, Commer, Standard Atlas, just to name a few. You could get at the radiater and generaly check the oil from the front but most of the work was done from the inside by very skinny mechanics :ROFLMAO:
