this morning as usual i went to our washroom in the motorhome (being fulltimers) and noticed there was a large hole where the drain should be in the sink and the drain was hanging on its pipe in the cupboard under the sink.:Eeek::Eeek:

turns out SWMBO has recently changed mouthwash to Dentyl Active and has been using it for about 2 weeks.

it has eaten through the plastic at the bottom of the sink so god only knows what it will do for false teeth.

so be warned there may only be trace amounts going in your sinks but it is very strong stuff.

now i have got to source and fit a sink.

more bloody expence. :Angry::Angry:

when you change the sink try pouring some neat mouthwash into a corner of the old one and confirm it was the cause.
take some pics then do as Brian suggested and complain loudly.

You suggesting we all send our false teeth to ShiftZZ to clean... ?

Just to spite me, he would send me the wrong set back...

I`d end up with a pair from some one with a "Big Gob"....:winky::ROFLMAO:

unfortunately it states on the bottle in small print keep away from plastics.

however an afternoon with some plastic, fibreglass filler and some silicone the sink now has its plughole back where it should be.

i will order a new sink for the washroom before it becomes an obsolete model and fit it either when this one gets beyond a repair like i have had to do today or when the van goes up for sale although it wont be going up for sale in the near future so by that time the sink may be one of the last things to replace.

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
If it does not say "Will rot plastic sinks" then send them the bill. That's not unreasonable, they've more money than you.

Joking aside a very valid point. I would take photos, keep the old sink and send off for refund of the new fit. These days companies cannot afford any kind of scandal......

Now where is that bottle as I MUST throw it in the bin right now:Doh:..... Wife is not happy as she has been using it for years.

You could try a domestic sink plug hole, I did this in a caravan worked a treat. Cheaper than new sink, and easy repair. Good luck.

Dont use Milton in your sinks also, especially stainless sinks, as my brother in law used Milton and a hole appeared in his sink!!!!

Since April 1846 but have always camped.
Also be aware that if you use Listerene as a mouthwash that it is alcohol based and if stoppeD by the police you would fail a breathalyser test if used within the previous half hour.

Aren't most drain pipes made of plastic? Certainly the U bend under my bathroom sink is plastic and presumably could have mouthwash sitting in that U bend for long periods.
