Motorhome just back from annaul habitation service.
Turned taps on - no water, but water dumped!
Flushed toilet - no flush, but water dumped!
My electronic dump valve which had been working perfectly had been replaced with a manual dump valve. Mechanic said mine was faulty.
Whether you put this new dump valve in the "on" or "off" position it makes no difference it will not dump UNTIL you turn a tap on or flush the toilet.
He is going to fix it, but I would appreciate any help as to what may have happened , in laymans terms please:cry:

since 2006 ( I think ! )
In laymans terms your fitter has messed up royally, has replaced a perfectly good working bit of kit ( along with the cost ) and obviously never even bothered to check his work properly.

And do make sure he gives you your old unit as I ( being the suspicious person I am ) would not be at all surprised if it is not destined for someone elses van seeing as it was working fine !!

Sorry to say it is impossible to say without seeing what he has done..
What you describe is extremely odd to say the least..
It sounds like he has got the feed and dump muddled up though

Thanks. In fairness he has given me the old dump valve .I noticed the system had been very well drained down, better than I am usually able to do it. Whilst looking at other posts I see that caravans use compressors to blow out their water systems. Since this repairer deals mainly with caravans I am wondering if he has used this method on my M.H. - is this even possible? If so might this have been the cause?

Just in case it helps anyone - there is a re-set button at the very rear of the new manual dump valve. That pressed and all waterworks working OK now.:thumb:
