I have been concerned for some time about the accuracy of air lines at garages and would like to be able to check the tryre pressures on my mh myself and inflate them to the correct pressures.

What equipment do you all use or do you rely on the garages?

Hi Norman

This is a great guage but a bit expensive Link Removed
I have one of these, which does an excellent job it includes the pump and guage, you can set the pressure and go and have a cuppa, it stops at a pre-set psi Link Removed

Once pumped up, these are a Link Removed :winky:

I checked my pressures yesterday on the van and one of my tyres was 3/5 of what it should have been:Eeek:

This is the same wheel I had the blowout on in the Summer and the old tyre used to deflate a lot quicker than the others.

Is it possible the wheel is defective in some way?

You could always put some bubbles around the rim and valve, could id a leak.

If it's an ally rim.. yes.. not unknown for them to have a porosity fault...
very unlikely with a steel rim.

More likely is a faulty valve stem or you have been unlucky and have a nail in the tyre.. best to have it checked at a tyre depot.

I have both the Michelin and the Draper gauges. I find the Michelin a bit fiddly to use, you need to get the angle spot on or you loose a load of air just checking the pressure, I prefer the Draper gauge.

I used to own a car that always lost air in the front tyres - turned out that the previous owner didn't slow down for speed bumps so the alloys had developed hair line cracks. I had them refurbed and they were brilliant... for a while until the same problem returned. Ended up having to replace the wheels .
Not sure how you would check the wheel plus tyre for leaks.

Once I get pressures stabilised that is my next purchase.

Oh that's worth paying the subs for in itself. A simple tyre pressure monitoring device with a LED. £35 for four - quite a saving on the other, fuller systems!

I am not sure if it is still the same, but Sainsbury's tyre pressure gauges always used to be calibrated on a weekly basis.

My mate and me always used to go there before we went out for a run on our Honda Blackbirds, when we were on occasion accused of making progress LOL :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
